Nursery

WB 4th July

This week in Nursery, we have been hunting for bugs in our tuff tray. We have been investigating how many legs and wings that they have. Our Phonics sound has been the letter ‘h’. We have practised forming the letter and finding objects that start with the letter ‘h’.  We have also been practising our dances for our graduation on the 15th of July. We can’t wait for you to see it.

WB 27th June 2022

Nursery have really enjoyed the sensory fluffy paint in the tuff tray this week. They have been exploring different textures and creating artist masterpieces! We keep on exploring our mark making, including with chalk and boards. In Ecat, we have been talking about keeping our teeth healthy and how to clean them. We have also started practising our song and dance for our graduation, later next month. In Phonics, we have been focussing on the ‘h’ sound. Can the children give you sound starting with ‘h’?

WB 20th June 2022

We were so proud of Nursery’s Sport Day! They did so well in the races and tried really hard. Thank you for coming to watch. In class, the children have been developing their mark making skills on easels and have been exploring capacity in the sand area. We have been focussing on the sound ‘l’ in phonics. Can the children show you how to form the letter ‘l’?

WB 13th June

Another busy week in Nursery! The children continued to enjoy the sunshine this week, reading in the garden and exploring our new boat. In class they have been working hard in the maths area, matching the teddy bears to the numeral. In Phonics, we have been focusing on the sound ‘e’. Can the children show you how they form the letter ‘e’?

WB 6th June 2022

Nursery have enjoyed learning about ‘Pirates’ this week. The children have been exploring the water tray and learning about different sea creatures. They have also created some treasure maps to find the Nursery treasure! The phonics sound of the week is ‘f’ and the children have been practising to form the letter ‘f’. Can the children give you any words starting with the ‘f’ sound?

WB 16th May 2022

Nursery were so happy to invite their grownups in for ‘Stay and Play’ this week. They were so excited to share what they have been learning, a big thank you for those who came.  In Nursery, the children have been preparing for the Queen’s Jubilee by creating beautiful crowns. In Phonics, we have been learning the ‘u’ sound. Can the children tell you any words that start with the u sound?

WB 9th May 2022

Nursery have had a wonderful week enjoying the sunshine! This week the children learned about mini beasts, inspired by the snails crawling on the leaves. It was a great talking point and the children learnt lots of new things about snails and other minibeasts! In Phonics, Nursery have been consolidating the ‘k’ sound, sorting words that start with the ‘k’ sound and ‘c’ sound. Well done Nursery.

Inspired by the story ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’. Nursery have created their very own bear masks, just like in the story. We have also been exploring puzzles that we have to match, and problem solve with. In Phonics, we have been learning about the sound ‘k’. Can the Nursery children tell you a word beginning with the ‘k’ sound?

WB 25th April 2022

In Nursery this week, we put out trickier puzzles and number problems in the classroom for the children to try and they loved it! We were so impressed with their number knowledge and fine motor skills. Our story this week is ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’, the children really enjoyed retelling the story and creating their own bears in the writing area. Phonics this week, we focussed on the c sound, can the children tell you a word beginning with the ‘c’ sound?

WB 19th April 2022

Nursery have had a fantastic start to their Summer Term! We have loved having the sun outside shining, so we have enjoyed spending a lot of time in our garden. We were inspired this week to create a very own obstacle course. We have also enjoyed mark making with foam in our tuff trays! Our Phonics sound this week is the sound o, we have been practising saying the sound and forming the letters around the classroom.

WB 28th March 2022

It has been a very busy week in Nursery. We are so excited that our pet caterpillars are finally in a cocoon; just like our story ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. In our tuff tray, we have been developing our scissor skills. We have practising how to hold scissors and how to make snips into paper. In Phonics, we are learning about the sound ‘o’. We have practising how to form the letter and have been thinking about words that start with the ‘o’ sound.

WB 21st March 2022

Nursery have loved making mud cakes in the Nursery mud kitchen this week and exploring the outside area. We have made mini beast crafts and investigated ice melting in the sun.

In Phonics, we have been focussing on the letter ‘g’. We have been leaning how to say the sound, form the letter and have been looking for words beginning with the ‘g’ sound.

WB 14th March 2022

Nursery have loved learning about mini beasts this week! The children have been exploring the tuff trays to see if they can find any mini beasts. We have been learning to name the different mini beasts and describe what they look like.

We have also started creating special cards for special people in our life. We have been learning to mix colours and the different colours in a flower. In Phonics, the children are consolidating their understanding of the sound ‘p’ looking at initial sounds in words.

WB 7th March 2022

Nursery were really excited to see the arrival of the caterpillars this week. We have been learning how to look after them and all about their life cycle. It has inspired us to read ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar.’ In Phonics we have been learning all about the sound ‘p’ and words that start with the ‘p’ sound. Our ECAT focus this week has been farmyard noises and animals that you might find in a farm.

In the continuous provision, we have been learning about constructing with a purpose in mind, so the children have been creating their very own robots.
