End of Season Hi5 Netball Rally

End of season Hi5 rally capped off a good year for our Year 6 netball team. The team really worked hard, and improved dramatically game on game winning their last game 5-0.

KS2 Boccia

This was a great day trying a new sport at the Thurrock SSP Boccia tournament. Lots of games played and the children really improved as the tournament progressed.

KS1 Boys and Girls 4v4 Football

Well done to the five boys and five girls who competed at the Thurrock SSP 4v4 KS1 event. It was a really fun event with lots of skill and goals on show. 

Sportshall Athletics

Congrats to our Year 3/4 boys and girls who took part in last week’s Thurrock SSP Sportshall Athletics event. 18 children from Dilkes competed against 14 other schools at Basildon Sporting Village, in a range of different athletics events. The children competed really well throughout winning a lot of races in their heat, and ultimately finishing in 5th place overall!!!

Squad: Erin, Jake, Jayden, Kiarn, Aiden, Charlie, Titomi, Phoenix, Freddie, Mikey, Hannah, Daniella, Confidence, Lottie, Grace, Bethany, Breeze & Bren.

Year 5/6 Badminton

Well done to the two girls and two boys who took part in the Year 5/6 badminton tournament. All four won numerous games throughout the day, resulting in the team winning two matches and losing just one.

Squad: Jean-Jacques, Frankie, Molly, Emily.

Year 3/4 Mixed Football Tournament

Eight girls and boys from Years 3 and 4 represented Dilkes in the District Thurrock SSP Mixed Football Tournament. The team performed remarkably and ultimately finished unbeaten in their group, winning 3 games and drawing 1, progressing into the 3 way round robin final. The team once again performed well in both games, losing in a close match to Warren and drawing in a tight match with East Tilbury, securing a bronze medal. Well done to all the team.

Year 5/6 Tag Rugby

10 boys and girls from Year 5 and 6 took part in the Annual Tag Rugby Tournament at William Edwards against 10 other schools across the borough. The Dilkes team performed excellently and went unbeaten throughout the group stage scoring lots of tries on the way, leading them into the semi-finals. Again Dilkes performed well, edging a tight semi-final to progress into a final showdown with last year’s winners Thameside. The final was an end-to-end affair producing well over 10 tries, with Thameside just coming out on top. A mammoth effort from the team producing a superb silver medal.

Year 5/6 Boys Football Tournament

Well done to the eight Year 5 boys who competed in the Thurrock SSP Football Tournament. The boys battled hard in the group stages playing against a majority of older children from schools across the borough. The team held their own producing lots of tight games and gaining a lot of experience throughout the day.  Well done!

Squad: George, Charlie, Tyler, Charlie, Henry, Jack, Ellis & Jayden.

Year 5/6 Girls Football Tournament

Well done to the nine girls who participated in the Thurrock girls football tournament. The girls gave a good account of themselves in 3 really close matches. They all enjoyed themselves and came out with a lot of knowledge and as better players.

Year 5/6 Table Tennis Tournament

Four boys and girls represented Dilkes at the borough-wide Table Tennis Tournament, an event that we have enjoyed recent successes. All four players performed well throughout the day, battling to earn an incredible silver medal. Well done to the team.

Start of the Season High5 Netball Rally

The High5 Rally signifies the start of the Netball season across the borough. This event is purely a friendly event, with scores not being recorded, giving many of the children their first taste of a competitive Netball match. The 5 students that represented Dilkes enjoyed the event and showed a huge improvement from the first game to last, scoring lots of hoops throughout the day.

2016/17 Yearly Summary.

Well done to all the pupils that represented the school in various different sports and events this year. Over 150 children from years 1 to 6 represented the school in over 40 events this year which included amongst others; Athletics, Badminton, Cricket, Dance, Golf, Football, Tennis and Swimming.

The majority of the events were run by the Thurrock SSP and held at venues all over the borough. Throughout the year Dilkes have participated at different events which earnt the school points in the Thurrock SSP medal table. After all the points were added together, Dilkes came top of the medal table scoring a huge 1190 points. A huge achievemnet which represents all the hard work from the children, staff and parents this year.  

2017 Thurrock SSP Awards Evening

A great night at the Thurrock SSP awards evening was capped with Dilkes winning 4 awards for varios achievments. Dilkes won;

  • Most improved school. Increasing our participation from 12 events last year to 35 events this year.
  • KS1 School of the year. Wer competed in and won the most events in the KS1 category.
  • Medal Table Winner. After all the points were added together, Dilkes came top of the medal table scoring a huge 1190 points
  • Co-ordinator of the year. Mr Henderson deservedly won this award for all his hard work and dedication throughout the year.

Alongside these awards four children (Oliver, Katelynn, Jayden & Bren) were shortlisted for their achievments in sport this year.
