Squad: Jamie, Alfie, Ruby & Ruby

Dance Competition

Congratulations to all the children that took part in this year’s Dance competition at Thameside Theatre. This was the first time that Dilkes had competed at the event, which wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work and dedication from our own Mrs Young. The children had been learning their routine during lunch times and after school since Christmas, with all their hard work culminating in a fantastic performance in front of over 100 parents and other schools at the Thameside theatre. Well done to all the squad.

Year 5/6 Quadkids

8 boys and girls from year 5 and 6 competed alongside 12 other schools at this year’s Quadkids event. They competed in the usual Quadkids events which include the long jump, sprint, Howler throw and endurance run. All of the squad competed really well earning a magnificent 1st place and gold medal for the school. This result goes alongside the bronze and silver medals already earnt in the Quadkids event from the lower year groups.

KS1 BISI Badminton (1st Place)

The BISI Badminton tournament by the SSP to allow children who are novices to try their hand at different badminton skills. Our four Key stage 1 boys and girls did fantastically well in all of the events at the competition and managed to secure themselves gold medals to go with the four gold medals won by the year 3/4 pupils at the same event. Well done to the four involved.

Squad: Nadia, Amelia, Ben & Oliver.

Year 5/6 Kwik Cricket Festival. (3rd Place)

The Kwik Cricket festival marks the start of the cricketing season for Thurrock primary schools. The girls had their festival early in the week competing in some very close matches in the group stages, with one match ending in a 2-run deficit. The girls did very well, using the festival to practice their skills against other schools and just missed out in moving into the semi-finals. The boys festival was an equally enjoyable and well run occassion. Like the girls, the boys competed in some very close matches with a high level of ability being shown by all the schools in the group. Dilkes managed to win all three group games topping their group and consequently moving into a semi-final against Warren Primary .

KS1 Quadkids (3rd Place)

Well done to the squad of four boys and four gils from KS1 who competed at the Quadkids event. The squad went to balckshots to compete against 13 other schools across four events, where each childs score were combined to find the schools overall total. The Dilkes squad did very well, and managed to secure 3rd place overall!!!!

Squad: Jayden, Jake, Jack, Laurus, Bren, Breeze, Mollie-May & Macey.

Key Steps Gymnastics

Many thanks to all the hard work from Mrs Blundell, who coached the two Dilkes Gymnastics teams. Each team competed closely in both competitions, executing two really well-worked and well-thought out routines.

KS1 Cross Country

The Year 2 boys and girls competed in the annual cross country held at Blackshots Leisure Centre. The eight children - 4 boys, 4 girls- partcipated against 15 other schools in what was a cold and windy day. All 8 children did themselves proud with the boys finishing 3rd and the girls aa very credible 8th overall, with Jayden finishing 3rd individually in his race.

Year 5 & 6 End of Season Netball Rally. (3rd Place)

Congratulation to the boys and girls who took part in the end of season netball rally. After enjoying a good season of Netball against other schools, this competition gave us a chance to see how far we had come from the start of the season rally earlier in the year. The students dedicated their saturday morning in competing against other schools in what was a tense and ultimately enjoyable event. After winning the majority of their group games, the team were put forward to compete in the semi final of the competion. After losing in the semi-final to the eventual winners, we then went in to the 3rd/4th place game to decide who won the bronze medals. The game was evenly matched and ended up having to be decided in golden goal after two overtime periods couldnt confirm a winner. Fortunately after several very near misses from both teams, Lily was able to sink a shot which won us the bronze medal!!

Squad: Lily, Rosie, Ruby, Isabel, Mason, Jamie, Jack

Year 3 & 4 BISI Badminton Rally (Gold Medal)

This competition is used to allow beginners at badminton learn and test their skills alongside children for other schools. The pupils took part in 8 different skills challenges which included, target practice, agility runs and teamwork drills. In all of these challenges, scores were recorded by the William Edwards Sports Leaders, and compiled to result in a final team score. The year 5 & 6 team did well and finished in 6th place, whilst the Year 3 & 4 manged to earn themselves a gold medal. Fantastic effort from all.
